Hi All. I've put together a slideshow that I want to PTT. What would be the correct setting for rendering for PTT for VHS?
Also, let me know if I can even do this. I can't use firewire to go to the DV Camera, since I don't have right now. but have a capture card that I have my VCR connected to. Can I PPT thru my capture card to the VCR?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Unless your capture card has input and output capablilites you won'y be able to do it. The easiest way is to do a PTT to a MiniDV camera or deck and then make your VHS dubs from the Mini DV master.

If your video card has a TV output then you could render to MPEG-2 at a good hefty bitrate (say at least 6Mbps) and then use whatever DVD/Media playing software came with the card to play the MPEG-2 file through the TV out.

Thanks everyone for your help. I have realized now that I will need to wait for my DV cam to come back.
Thanks.

I did this once by writing a DVD with a CBR of 8,000,000. Then I connected my DVD player directly to my VHS deck and recorded straight from the DVD player.

I got a very clean (VHS standards) copy.

I do exactly what jbrawn says, but I add about 10 or 15 seconds of black at the beginning so the VHS tape can get up to speed and get past the bit at the end that stretches. Using your camera to play a PTT'ed tape just adds hours to the head wear, and doesn't make it much better than the DVD method.
