slideshow text paragraph form, line by line

Background:
I'm making a 60th birthday slideshow for my mom. There are places where I want to have a little paragraph introducing a photo, and also at the very end of the slideshow I want to include a "letter" that I have written to my mom.

My question:
How can I have the paragraphs of text show up one line at a time so they are easier for the viewer to read (think scrolling credits, only they would scroll up and not disappear off the top of the screen). The first line of text would appear (and remain), then the second line appears, then the third, and so on, until finally you're looking at the complete paragraph of text. I tried doing this with multiple media generators, just adding a new line of text to each subsequent frame but the text jumped up and down and it wasn't smooth or easy to read.

Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

Hi,

Here's my trick (there are probably a dozen ways to do this!):

When you enter the first line of text, enter blank lines below it equal to your total number of lines. Fill in each subsequent blank line in a separate text media entry. Keep the total number of lines (including blanks) the same and overlap, and each line will appear to fade in.

Here's a 1991 gamelan concert video that I brought into VMS8 and added that kind of title:

Go to the performer credits at 1:01 in the video.
