Slow motion with resample causing corrupt files

check out the link to see what I mean. drtelemark is also having this same problem. anyone else? would SoFo please comment on this bug? it's extremely frustrating.

the DV files play back with corrupt blocks on all PC's and DV devices.

I know it's not the source files or my project settings, because I can render the exact same project on a different PC and it results in a perfectly normal and non-corrupt DV file which plays fine on the good PC and the bad PC.

I have tried re-installing WinXP/Vegas and then tried installing Win2k to see if it was related to the OS, but I'm still getting corrupt files.

There is a factory default of "save project markers in media file" at the bottom of your render panel. Maybe one computer is set one way vs. the other. Studio DV won't open avi files with this feature activated.
Have you loaded any programs/drivers since Vegas on the problem computer ? Was/is there other NLE software on the problem system? VIA chipset ? Video card ?

thanks for responding Craig H.

>>>Have you loaded any programs/drivers since Vegas on the problem computer ?
just for the hardware in the PC, such as the SIIG 1394 adapter, SB sound card, GeForce2 MX video, etc...

>>>Was/is there other NLE software on the problem system?
no (fresh install of WinXP and Win2k. both have the problem)

>>>VIA chipset ?
yes (on both computers)

>>>Video card ?
yes (same in both systems)

I really don't see how having certain hardware would affect the rendering quality of Vegas. it is software based. I can see how a 3rd party DV codec would screw things up, but other than that... why would Vegas's render engine have a problem with any of my hardware?

SoFo is it possible that certain hardware could cause a DV file to be written with corrupt data? this only happens with resample turned on though, so it would have to be related to resampling. this sounds far fetched... I mean, at what point during the render process is there a chance for other hardware or software to meddle with Vegas's render engine!?

if SoFo would give some details as to what circumstances can cause this, I might have better luck finding the problem.

do you have hardware acceleration ON in your video display card? try turning that off.

If you still repro, please send a short clip (1/2 sec) that exhibits the problem to drdropout@sonicfoundry.com, along with the project file.
