Slow render HELP!

So I am having some issues with a very slow render with Vegas 11 pro. I have a bunch of HD footage with some stills. Some pan and crop and some slow motion. For a 5:35 min project it has taken almost 2 hours to render. Should not be this slow.

UGH

This is what I have under the hood.

Intel i7 2.4 Ghz
16 gig of ram
555GTX Nvidia graphics card.
2 separate hard drives one with content and one that I am rendering the finished file

Any thoughts
PS the video preview is also closed out to see if that would help

Please let us know what format you are rendering from and to? What is your original HD format? Are you encoding using an existing VP 11 template, have you modified it or are you using 3rd party codecs?

Thanks

If you look at the Windows Task Manager during rendering what is the CPU usage?
and if you have a program for checking the GPU (like the free MSI Afterburner (works for most graphics cards)) then what is the GPU usage ??

Any time that you use event pan/crop, velocity envelope or opacity, every pixel in every frame has to be rendered. Your timing sounds about right. If you are only applying the edits to a small section of the timeline, then split the events to constrain the edits.

Just to back up what Steve Mann said, that doesn't sound like an unreasonable render at all. I have a pretty beefy computer and many of my projects are short form like music videos or small web commercials and can at times be 6 hours or more. Depends on your hardware, your original files, any effects, color correction, plugins, transparencies, or other alterations things like event pan/crop and track motion.
