Slow Render Speed

babamoka wrote on 5/14/2020, 12:22 PM

My system takes 3 hours to render a 45 SECONDS clip with just a little bright-contrast and noise reduction effects. It is Dual Core E5700, 8 GB DDR3 RAM (1333 4+4), the video editor and OS are on 120 SSD (C Drive), my render location is D Drive yet the pathetic render speed. I tried to get my hands on Core 2 Quad but could not get one. I use g41 LGA 775 if I do not find a core 2 quad in the next 7 days, which processor will you advise for this mobo to get me out of this misery?

Thank you so much for your reply! I bought Vegas 17 and am trying to use it; I have an integrated video card, not a separate one.

Look at the specifications and you can see for yourself what the minimal specifications are

Hmmm, so there no way that I can avoid a total upgrade of the system. But sir, just a curiosity. How did video editors using vegas work in the days when core 2 duo or core 2 quad were the best processors?

Very low resolution proxies.

michael-harrison wrote on 5/14/2020, 1:42 PM

@babamoka the highest available resolutions and frame rates were lower and they left their machines alone when rendering.
anything serious was done "offline" with a render farm

System 1:

Windows 10
i9-10850K 10 Core
128.0G RAM
Nvidia RTX 3060 Studio driver [most likely latest]
Resolution        3840 x 2160 x 60 hertz
Video Memory 12G GDDR5

System 2:

Lenovo Yoga 720
Core i7-7700 2.8Ghz quad core, 8 logical
16G ram
Intel HD 630 gpu 1G vram
Nvidia GTX 1050 gpu 2G vram
