Slow Rendering

Hi,

I am new to this forum and would appreciate any advise I can get.

I am using Vegas Movie Studio 4 right now. I am using a Pentium 4 2G system with 1G RAM on board. I have recently created a video that is made up of still pictures. The video is about 7 minutes long. However, it takes about almost 45 minutes to render the movie to a MPEG2 format to be burned into a DVD disk. Is this normal ?

Also, I was creating a movie just two days ago that make up of videos that was recorded using my Sony DSC-P150 digital camera. The total length of the video is about 27 minutes. However, to render to a MPEG2 format will take about 4 hours !! Guess this is extremely weird and is definitely not normal.

Is there any way to get around this ? I don't think I need a super computer to do such activies, right ? Also, from this forum, I have heard about disconnecting the computer from the internet and shutdown upwanted task on the computer such as Antivirus programs. I did just that and find no significant improvement.

Appreciate any advise from anyone out there. Thanks.

I have a Pentium IV 2.4G 1G RAM, and your rendering times seem to be in line with my rendering times. I try to start renders before going to sleep.

3D motion slows down a great deal more.

Rendering stills can take a while.

Rendering from video sourced from a Digital Camera can take even longer.

Sounds pretty good to me.
