Slow Scripting Speed Vegas 6

Hi.

I'm migrating to V6 and have just confirmed that scripts that worked fine (speedily) in Vegas 5 take a (relative) eternity to run in V6.

For instance, one of the "Cuts only" scripts (select events under cursor) takes 4 seconds to run, every time, under 6 whereas it was near instantaneous under 5 (after the initial load of .Net).

Any suggestions to shorten the script execution time very appreciated.

You could try turning off the Media Manager and seeing if that makes a difference.

There is nothing you can do about it. Sony changed the way Vegas loads scripts in version 6.0 so that it reloads the .NET Application Domain with each and every script. This provides better isolation but has greater overhead for each script.

Just curious, why are you just now upgrading to 6? Why not upgrade to 7? Sony changed they way they load scripts in Vegas 7 to make it a bit faster than 6 (but not as fast as 5)

Regarding your query, I originally bought V6 in the expectation that I would be buying an HD cam, but that hasn't happened yet. Meantime, I continued working with V5, since it really did most everything I wanted (and then some).

Given what you've just written, I may just go back to 5 until I really nead HD editing.

You might want to go ahead and upgrade to Vegas 7 before the $150 upgrade price is gone.

Taking advantage of the upgrade price was part of my motivation for upgrading from 5 to 6, and I think in retrospect it wasn't necessarily a good move since I haven't put V6 to use... in fact, I value the speed of script execution so much that I've just gone back to using v5. But thanks for the advice anyway.
