Slow UI response when opening windows (Track Motion, FX, panels)

mamomo wrote on 3/7/2026, 1:35 AM

Hello,

I have noticed that the user interface in VEGAS Pro sometimes feels slow when opening certain windows. I don't mean playback performance or rendering, but specifically the UI response when opening panels.

For example:

  • Track Motion window
  • Some FX plugin windows
  • Certain interface panels

They sometimes appear slowly, almost like a short delayed animation before the window becomes fully visible.

Playback and rendering performance are fine. The issue seems to be related only to the interface responsiveness when opening some panels.

In practice I mainly work on a single display, which is my central monitor:

  • LG HDR display – 3840×2160 (4K)

The other monitors are mostly used for secondary tools or references.

System information:

  • Windows 11 Pro (10.0.26200)
  • CPU: Intel i9-10900KF
  • RAM: 64 GB
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070
  • Driver: NVIDIA Studio 591.74

Monitors:

  • 3840×2160 (4K) LG HDR display
  • 1920×1200 HP ZR2440w
  • 1920×1080 Lenovo display

Things I already tested:

  • GPU acceleration enabled
  • Dynamic RAM preview set to 0 MB
  • High DPI scaling override set to “Application”
  • Windows display scaling at 100%
  • Disabled popup animations in internal preferences
  • NVMe SSD used for system and temporary files

The system is otherwise very responsive, but some VEGAS UI windows still feel slower than expected when opening.

Is this normal behavior with the current VEGAS versions, or is there any setting that can improve the UI responsiveness?

Thanks!

@mamomo Hi, someone might have a better reply but 'Driver: NVIDIA Studio 591.74' has had posts reporting problems, there's been post across the net about problems with this driver with other software. Try rolling back to a previous driver & see if your problem persists.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion.

It’s possible that this particular driver version might be contributing a bit to the behaviour, and I will probably try rolling back to an earlier driver to test it.

However, the reason I finally decided to post about this is that the UI behaviour I described is something I have noticed for quite a long time, across different VEGAS versions and different drivers. It’s not something that suddenly appeared with this specific driver.

The system itself is very responsive and playback/rendering performance is excellent, but some VEGAS interface windows (Track Motion, certain FX windows, etc.) have always felt slightly slow to appear, almost like a short delayed animation before the panel becomes fully visible.

So while the current driver might influence it slightly, the behaviour is something I’ve observed for a long time and I thought it might be worth asking here in case there is a known setting, tweak, or explanation related to how VEGAS handles UI drawing or multi-monitor setups.

Thanks again for the suggestion — I’ll still test an older driver to see if there is any difference.

@mamomo Ok, sorry I can't help further. I have a similar set-up with one main 4k 32" monitor for Vegas & other apps & a secondary smaller monitor just for opening files etc.. The windows I use in Vegas a permanently docked & switching or opening windows is no problem.

Yes, VEGAS Pro is installed on the C: drive where the OS is installed.

However, the temporary files and working media are located on a separate NVMe SSD that is actually faster than the system drive. I normally keep the OS and applications on C:, while project media and temporary files are handled on the other NVMe drive to keep disk activity separated.

Regarding the comment about docked windows, I also tend to keep most windows docked in VEGAS and in general switching between them is fine.

Where I notice the delay more clearly is when switching certain panels or opening specific tools, for example when opening Track Motion and switching between options like Track Motion and Panning. In those cases the panel sometimes appears slightly slower, almost like a small delayed animation before it fully draws.

It’s not a major problem, but it’s something I’ve noticed for quite a long time and I was curious if there was any known tweak or explanation for it.

@mamomo Mine does that, I've always accepted it as that's the way it is, I don't think I expect an instant response.

Yes, that’s very similar to what I experience as well.

It’s not something that really prevents working normally, and like you I’ve mostly just accepted it as part of how VEGAS behaves. Playback and rendering are very fast on my system, so it’s really just the UI response of some windows that feels slightly delayed.

I was mainly curious whether this is simply the way the interface currently works in VEGAS, or if it’s something that could potentially be improved by the developers in future versions.

It’s a small thing, but when you switch tools frequently (for example between Track Motion and Panning) the delay becomes noticeable over time.

So I thought it might be worth asking here in case there was a known tweak or if other users had noticed the same behaviour.
