Slowing down audio

Hey there! What I want to do is this: make the video and audio slow down gradually from normal speed to still. I can do this with the video easily by using a velocity envelope. How can this be done with audio? I've experimented with using the jog shuttle slider and recording the output into another instance of Vegas which works alright, but is not as good as I'd like.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Video is much easier to accomplish this type of thing with than audio. The eye is easily fooled, not so with the ear. I don't think you will ever accomplish this perfectly concerning the audio.

render you mix down to a new track and apply Sound Forge's pitch bend to the stereo file.

With a bit of fiddling you should be able to get it slowing down in time to the video.

It will take guesswork though.

Possibly you can do this in Vegas by using apply non-realtime event FX, but I can't remember!

Did you try splitting the video and audio at the point where you want the slow-down to start > be sure these newly created video and audio events are grouped > Ctl-drag the right edge of the event?

This will slow the audio and video in sync but again the quality of the audio will deteriorate the closer you get to "stopped".

Thanks, that'll work great! I didn't know of that feature in Sound Forge.
