Slowly speeding up audio?

Is there a way to slowly speed up a clip in an audio track? For example, a song gets progressively faster and faster in VMS or Sound Forge Studio? I know that you can CTRL-drag to make the audio speed up, but that is uniform. I can picture that i can split up the audio clip into many sections and perform the same editing. I guess I am picturing a gradient of speed throughout the whole clip or of an LP record going from slow to fast (for example 33 to 45 to 78) smoothly . Any thoughts on how I could do this?

There is no Doppler-style effect for progressively speeding up audio or video in the program. Cutting it into smaller pieces and making each slice progressively faster is the only way I know of.

Or....if you have any music recording program you can set up the tempo changes on the audio track then export to MP3.
Being a long time recording musician this is all I could suggest.

Just a bump for you......good luck.

I'll keep listening hopefully there is a way...Thanks for your suggestions!

I am not as familiar with either Sound Forge Audio or ACID. Is changing the tempo something I can do in one of those products?

I guess "Tempo Curves" in ACID is exactly what I am looking for?? Thanks for mentioning the music recordng software idea and sending me in the right direction!

Your welcome.....

I use Cakewalk Sonar 5.0 PE as I've been with Cakewalk since the early 90's.

I will only guess 'yes' that Sound Forge or ACID would have that capability.

What you can also try is Audacity being a free music recording software program if you don't have a program now.

Try this:

Hope that helps.....carry on.

Sound Forge has this capability with Effects / Pitch / Bend. However, i don't know if the Studio version of Sound Forge also has it.

I have Audacity too (I have SFA Studio since it came with VMS). It is always fun to find a new feature. Thanks for pointing it out.

Chien - That was perfect. Sound Forge Audio Studio can do Pitch Blends and there is even a tutorial on how to do it.

Thanks!
