Sluggish V9?

bruceo wrote on 5/15/2009, 1:11 PM
Whenever I click on the event FX the plugin chooser window takes about a minute to open where on all previous vegas versions it was instant. Makes it like pulling teeth to try and color grade a project.

I also noticed on HDV projects vegas seems to hang on the first few frames on a clip when passing through a cut. Like the buffer is not working properly. V9 32Bit ( certainly doesnt seem any better than V8 with HDV preview framerate.

Anyone else seeing this on HDV projects? About to try it on another machine.....

Yes to both.
I hadn't seen anyone else complaining so I thought I was the only one who had problems with the FX window being slow to open.
For me, it's about 3 sec. in V8 while V9 is more like 10 sec.

Just tested on a 2nd Q6600 4GB machine and the same thing. What a crapper. What would take me about an hour to grade is not going to take me 5 or more. This is crap.

About the same experience here as I posted in another thread:

What sucks even worse it that I cannot bring the project up in V8 so I am stuck and most certainly going to miss a deadline. I would recommend anyone who uses filters to stay away from V9 until this major problem is fixed.

bruceo, can you not open up a copy of V8 and do a copy/paste from 9 to 8?

I did and it crashed it on several tries. I then removed the filters of of the clips that I had them on and tried and it worked. Thanks for the idea! Still crap that it has to be done like this....

I don't see these problems. Video FX plug-in chooser opens as quickly as before (Vista 32). There is a slight slowing of the preview passing over cuts, but this has always been the case for me. I haven't tested as thoroughly on XP yet, so there may be some problems there. Over all, I am seeing slightly faster previewing and tangibly faster rendering (720P HDV to 720P BD).

I'm not seeing this either. No diff between V8 and V9 - FX Video plug-in chooser opens as fast as ever (almost instantly) for Track effects or single events. Running Vista 64 on Q6600 - 4gigs ram.
