Smart and Friendly CDR/RW

I just bought a SAF Speedwriter Plus CDR which came with
CDA. But the program dosn't seem to "see" the device...
even though it's listed on the website, it's not in the
device list for the app when I launch it. I have the CDA
4.0f running as a SF 4.5 plugin. I bought this drive
specifically since you've never come out with a driver for
my Mitsumi CDR 4x burner. Is there another file I'm
missing or what? I try to tell prefs to see it as an ATAPI
unit but all that sticks is the CDR simulator. Please
advise.

I have the same or similiar problem, both with my SAF CD-RW drive,
and my CD-ROM drive.

I have a SAF TurboWriter, 4x/6x/24x drive that came with Sonic Foundry
software.

The last I check, I had a later version than that available for
download (of CD architect).

I select the drive via the "advanced" setting, and ATAPI interface.

About half the time, CD Architect fails to "see" the drive. After
restarting the computer, it sometimes then sees the drive.

The same thing happens with my CD-ROM drive (when I'm trying to do
DAE).

This seems to be a generic IDE problem, since it happens with both of
my drives.

I sent email to Sonic Foundry support, they suggested it might be a
hardware configuration problem. But, the Adaptec EZ CD creator
software never has problems with these drive. I sent them back further
email with more details, and haven't heard anything back yet.

In addition:

When I do record successfully with CD Architect doing CD-DA with DAO,
the last track (or the lead out?) ends in such a way that my CD
players hang or get errors at the end of the CD (one CD player prints
"error", and must be reset, one just keeps accessing the CD, another
stops when it should go to the next CD in the carousel). This problem
is annoying, I can't really get around it.

Sometimes, even when it recognizes the drive, it does not recognize
that there is media in the drive (either CD-R, CD-RW, or a burnt CD).

Sometimes, I get various errors when it tries to actually burn a CD (I
haven't saved the detailed error messages with the sense codes or
whatever they are).

I suddenly have the same problem, even after installing 4.0g. This
used to work just fine, now the lead out only gets 15% done when CDA
says it's done and everyting is fine and dandy. Except when I put the
disk in a CD player and it goes nuts at the end of the last song.

Have you found a solution yet? I would greatly appreciate if you
could email me at ccfwdam@hotmail.com.

Thanks.

For the Lead Out problem: Do you have any Regions defined in your
source WAV file? I have discovered that with Regions in the source,
CDA incorrectly writes the Lead Out. I had to delete all Regions from
the source to get CDA to write the Lead Out correctly.
