Honestly I don't know that much about them, but I do know that for
about the
same price as the Smart and GFriendly, you can get a PLextor 8x cdr.
As far
as I have heard, Plextor are about the best out there. Don't know
about the
software bundle with it. As far as the cd/rw... I just bought a
Yamaha
4416s cd-rw, and I honestly am thinking that I am not going to use the
cd-rw
all that much. I mean... it's good for backup and all... but with
blank cdr
discs so cheap, it isn't a necessity to get the rw... that's my
opinion...

I also find myself using CD-RW's very rarely. You can't use them
for audio
playback and I do believe you have to erase the whole disc before
writing to
it anew. Besides, I'm not sure a rewritable written on your computer
is
readable on my computer. So I never take chances. When distributing
to
others, I always use a regular CDR.

Although for daily backups they are great. They save you money in the
long
run. Audio files are too big for ZIP disks and tape backups are too
slow.
So at the end of a recording session I drop it all to a CD-RW and then
reload
it at the next session, erase the disk and save the new session on the
same
one.

Good Luck!

Yes, I use CD-RW for doing all my downloads (product updates, files I
may want to reinstall or stuff I'm downloading for other people.)
I've also used it when moving files from Win95 to Win98.

Lots of good uses.. be creative.

You've probably got your burner by now, but I really like my Smart
& Friendly. Easy install, and loved the CD Architect that came
with it.
