"Smart Render" Function in Vegas?

Does anyone know if VV will ever have a smart render functionality, similar to Adobe Premier? Meaning, when you render the project, and then make changes on the timeline, if will only re-render the new stuff..... saving a lot of time on the re-renders.

I think VV allows you to manually do this, but it seems like a hassle.

Hey, thanks. I'll try the print to tape.... have not used that functionality yet. I was rendering to AVI, and as you said, it re-rendered every time. Thanks again.

It smart renders just fine when saving an AVI. I have a DV project and just verified it. At first it was rendering the whole thing, but then I turned off motion blur and it only rendered my fade ins and fade outs.

he's talking about if you go back and make changes after you render. VV will re-render the whole AVI every single time, just like probably every other desktop NLE.

but, if you use the Print to Tape from Timeline feature, VV3 doesn't have to render everything, it can stream the DV source right off the disk and mix it with pre-rendered transitions and clips with effects. THEN if you go back and change something, and then print to tape again, VV3 will ONLY re-render the parts that you changed since the last 'print to tape'.

make sure you set the project setting for storing your Pre rendered files to the right drive. it defaults to the VV folder. you'll end up with all the rendered bits in your VV folder if you don't change that.
