Smart Rendering and No-Recompress Redux

I've searched the forum and read all the posts I can find but I can't figure out how to:

HDV 60i Tape to Vegas smart render to DVDA no recompress BluRay.

I can smart render using the HDV-60i template but it recompresses in DVDA.
I can get no-recompress using the BluRay 1440x1080-60i 25 Mbps template but it re-renders in Vegas (8 or 9).

If I modify the BluRay template so it does not re-render (change to CBR 25,000,000 and level to High 1440) then it will recompress in DVDA. It seems to be the change in Level that causes it to happen.

I also tried the match media function in Vegas but it made no difference and was identical to setting project properties to HDV-60i.

Here are screen shots of my render settings. DVDA project properties are set to BluRay 25 Mbps 1440x1080-60i MPEG-2 16:9.

As you have already found out, DVDA will not accept an HDV MPEG2 files without recompressing. Curiously, Adobe Encore will create Blu-ray discs from HDV files with no recompressing. I've made a lot of Blu-ray discs in Encore using HDV files and they have played perfectly on all Blu-ray players.

You are right John. I just tried it with Encore and it does not transcode either raw footage from my camera or smart rendered clips from Vegas. Looks like I have to learn Encore now.
-----------

Edited: I never opened Encore until today so a going up the learning curve a little is necessary. It turns out that both Encore CS3 and CS4 insist on recompressing the raw HDV footage from my camera and also the smart rendered Vegas clips that used the HDV-60i template.

However, If I use the BluRay 1440x1080-60i 25 Mbps template and change the level to High 1440 and the encoding to CBR 25 Mbps then Vegas will smart render it and Encore says no transcoding needed.

thanks,
Rocky

One more question, smart rendering using the Cineform codec? I haven't found any settings that make that work.

thanks again all,
