Smart Split from warp flow to Cross effect Transition Vegas 21

wilco-n wrote on 2/15/2025, 10:32 PM

I use Vegas Pro 21 with build 315.

I would like to use Cross Effect instead of the Warp Flow when I am using the smart split.

I have looked over the forum but didn't find anything specifically that show how this might be done.

I'm sure I am missing something simple.

I have asked this question before but I don't know where it is so I created this post.

Thanks

@wilco-n I don't think that is possible, Smart Split is what could be called an effect in itself. I'd ask someone like @jetdv if a script could be created that removes the region selected & adds a crossfade, the script button can then be added to the Toolbar.

You can easily replace an existing transition by another by dragging the new transition to the transition on the timeline. In the case of replacing the warp flow into a cross fade, just delete the warp transition on the timeline.

That's what the "smart split" does. If you don't want the warp transition, just use "Split" - S. You could then add a crossfade by using "/" on the numeric keypad.

Thank you for the clarification.

so smart split isn't that smart lol.
didn't know there was a shortcut nice to know.

the smart split is very useful when there's lots of cuts required but the warp flow doesn't work (look right)for the type of videos i create.

I've subed to your YouTube channel just recently and started watching your 4 years ago "how to scripting" in C sharp.

I stumbled on your channel looking for a way to alter the smart split I figure if it's using C sharp then perhaps it's "just a matter" of altering the pointer (uid)

but it could also be hard coded which i figure that's what you're telling me.

Q. Is there a way to identify a transition type and then bulk change them to a different transition? Sorta like a find & replace in a word processor?

I don't get notification when people reply to me so sorry about the delay in responding.

Thanks again

A script can be used to easily remove the "warp" transition wherever it is located in the project. If it's simply removed, then you'll get the default crossfade. Or a different transition could then be added to replace the Warp transition.
