SmartScription Expired. Lost Access

Gastor wrote on 9/23/2025, 1:59 PM

As many of you know, the SmartScription plan is no longer being offered. But for those who aren't familiar, unlike the subscription, the Smartscription was a subscription that included the purchase of the last versions of all the software at the end of the contract. (I.E. I purchased the Vegas Pro 21 Suite, which meant that in 2 years, whatever the latest versions of Vegas Pro, Acid Pro, Sound Forge, Vegas Effect, and Vegas Image were around at the time, I'd be able to download and own even after the contract ran out.)

I began receiving pop ups telling me that the subscription was coming to an end 2 weeks ago. I reached out to support for a ticket, and have only received the automated responses. At this point, Vegas Pro 23, Acid Pro 11 and Sound Forge 18 have all stopped working.

Any ideas what I can do? I've responded to the ticket multiple times. All i got was an automated responses that assumed I had an old version of Vegas Pro from the SONY days and how to problem solve if the issue was related to that.

What about emailing Magix sales to get a perpetual license?

Have you downloaded Vegas 23? Try your existing smartscription SN and see if it registers. I downloaded the trial version, used my existing SN and it registered. That said, I haven't reached the actual expiration date yet so maybe I'll be an unhappy camper, but working so far.

@Gastor Have you checked in your Magix account to see what is there under My Products?

Thank you all for checking in and offering help.

@Gastor Have you checked in your Magix account to see what is there under My Products?

I have! It's not listed under products at all. Under Subscriptions it's listed as Canceled and Invoiced for all 24 Months. It does specify that it's a VEGAS Pro Post 365+ (2-year SmartScription) which I'm hoping will make it easy for them to rectify.

I have. It ran great and I had already been using it for work. 2 weeks ago, it began to give me the popup warning every time i opened it, letting me know that I would be losing access to it and wouldn't be able to use i after the subscription ran out, which is counter to what the SmartScription was. Acid Pro 11 and SoundForge 18 all have the same issue.

While I did email the service/help desk, this didn't occur to me as an option - thanks! I'll give this a shot now!

while I did send an email to support, I wasn't able to find an email that would connect me with the sales team directly. So I'm hoping customer support can find my ticket and help. I was only able to find the FAQ section of the site that made a reference to things regarding the Sales team. It didn't show a separate email to reach out to them. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Thanks! I just reached out here as well. Hopefully I'm able to get a resolution quickly. I have had to resort to doing work in Resolve which works, but feels like I'm being forced to brush my teeth with my left hand.

Any Idea how long I should wait for a response? I've replied to the email sent by the autogenerated response on the 26th and again this morning.

The smartscription began back in Vegas 21, so it's not letting me log into 21,22 or 23, as well as Acid Pro or Soundforge. So I've had to move to using Vegas 19, Davinci Resolve and Reaper for the time being as my work was beginning to really stack up.

I'm honestly not sure what to do at this point? I'm assuming there's some kind of glitch/ but after seeing my contract and the amount of time I've been waiting for an answer, I would have assumed someone from Magix/Vegas would have just given me new activation codes for Vegas, SoundForge Pro and Acid Pro while they work out the issues related to this on their own time.

Can I ask when does your SmartScription expire? I'm curious if anyone else has had this issue? I'm blown away that my first email asking for help regarding this was sent to them on September 9th and I haven't had anything but automated responses. I'm assuming that many people haven't had this issue yet so they were prioritizing fixing immediate bugs that came up during the launch.

But I think I've been incredibly patient when you consider that anyone who did the 2 year SmartScription paid the most of the Vegas Pro Suite over the past 2 years (599. In retrospect, since none of the other software got updated, it would have been more affordable to buy the Vegas 21 Post and the Vegas 22 update) I feel like we should be giving solid service for that loyalty.

I'm genuinely happy that Vegas Pro 23 is getting solid reviews but this is starting to feel unfair.

My SmartScription expires tomorrow, so stay tuned. I have gotten no notice of a coming expiration. Did you receive this email about a month ago? Just to be clear, I downloaded the version 23 trial when released and simply entered my existing SN. It registered and I've been flying great ever since. No notices of coming expiration . . . but maybe I'll find out tomorrow. I am still showing I'm operating on my Vegas Pro Suite 365+. We'll see what happens at the bewitching hour. I'll let you know.

Yup. I received that email as well. That's what initally made me think I could ignore the app warnings.

On the bright side - I finally heard back from them by email. They were able to give me a new SN for Vegas which is working. I have lost access to all of the other software though (Sound Forge 18, Acid Pro 11, Vegas Image and Vegas Effects.) I'm hoping that this was an oversite and they'll be able to give me new SN for Sound Forge and Acid Pro in particular, as those two, along with Vegas, are my daily drivers.
