Smoothest Crop and Pan movement

Running a 3 gig AMD 6 core, 16 Gig's. Using 2880 Jpeg and trying various output codecs. MPEG2 seems the smoothest (slow/smooth setting on the crop/pan time line), QT not so good.

Anyone have settings that work (final is a high mb QT codec) well for this?

Should I use a smaller jpg (worse quality on the enlarged portion)?

Any hints would be greatly appreciated if you have a formula that gives a very smooth crop and Pan (say 5 to 10 seconds long).

Try avchd (mts). Not all tv sets will play these, though.

I'm trying all of the codec's including Cineform that work well when I take to a QT format. I may just need a new generation computer for what I want to do.
