My Abit BP6 mobo and dual overclocked Celerons arrived
today (much rejoicing ensued). I've read that Vegas is SMP
enabled, now, do I need to reinstall Vegas to get the SMP
lovin, or is this taken care of on an operating system
level? Thanks.
Well, assuming you're running 95 or 98, in order to take care of SMP,
you're going to have to install Windows NT (I suggest Workstation
over Server). So, if you install NT, you're going to have to re-
install Vegas anyways. :-)
Now, if you're already running NT, you're going to have to re-install
it. There is no way to upgrade a single-processor NT system to duals,
since the NT SMP Kernel is installed only when the OS is first
installed (and the two processors are in-place and functioning).
In short ... upgrading your system will be a little more of a project
than I believe you expected.
:-)
Good luck! Post a message if you need suggestions, I'm running a BP6
as well (I don't OC my processors though).

Thanks Peter. I run Windows2000 Professional, so I knew a little
about it. It was mainly out of curiosity; I knew you had to
reinstall nt (i hate the win2k moniker) to gain access to both cpu's,
I was just curious about Vegas. I did end up doing a complete
reinstall of everything, just to make sure everything is straight.
Anyway, isn't SMP great? :)
