SMPTE Color Bars coming up 0 IRE for Black // Max 85 IRE for 100% whit

I noticed that my perfect 0-100 IRE input video, now displays 0-85 IRE on the Vegas 16 output with no video effects whatsoever running. So it's been dimmed, which of course increases the relative saturation. I checked this using waveform / vectorscope tool. I don't want to 'cheat' the output using various tools (brightness/contrast, etc). I then loaded SMPTE color bars with no effects, again 0-85 IRE. There is something very wrong, probably a simple setting. Please help me understand what is going on. It's improper to need to 'fix' a SMPTE Color Bars test signal. THANKS !

Is the pixel format of your project set to 8 bit?

OMG, Thank you... I was on 32-bit Floating Point... when I moved it to 8-bit, it is now reasonable !!! Can I buy you a beer ?
