Snapping

I've searched this topic and tried what's been suggested, but it's not working for me. I'm setting slides to music, and the transitions are very important. I can't freely manipulate the slides so sometimes the sync is out of sync. Is there a way to correct this? F8 doesn't work and the shift key doesn't either. FYI, I'm using Vegas Movie Studio, Platinum version.

not exactly sure what you mean,, but if snapping is on you can still maniplate the pics and create transitions, f8 turns it off and on , in off it flows smoother, but not sure how movie studio works, but should be about the same.

You can't freely manipulate the slides . . .

Maybe your auto ripple is switched on ?(????)

And turn on your crossfade, then crossfade your pictures however long you'd like, then drag & drop a transition onto the crossfade.

Thanks...here's what I'm looking to do...set a picture exactly at a specific beat in the music so that the beginning of the event is synchronized with the beat. When moving the event, it snaps to a specific point rather than allowing me to move it freely.

Here's what I tried... options - ruler format - samples. It seems to make a difference. I'll try other options on ruler format, too.

Specifically, the music I'm using is the 1812 overture, and events need to begin exactly at the cannon booms.

Appreciate your assistance.

You should at least have quantize to frames turned on and snap to frames. You cannot have a picture start between frames. Assuming you're working with NTSC, the closest you can come is to be withing 1/60th of a second of the beat. You cannot do any better than that because the frames of the video are discrete 1/30 second intervals. Usually this is close enough for most purposes.
