Snapshot

Hi, when I save timeline snapshot to file and place it on the timeline as a still everything looks fine. However when I render the movie, that particular still shot comes out smaller than the video that it came from when I play it.

I searched the knowledgebase under 'snapshot' and it said

"...the image will then be set to the resolution of your output frame size. Note that images saved out will have a 1.0 pixel aspect ratio applied to them, so they will be saved at 654x480, the standard resolution for still images used in NTSC broadcasting."

I checked the resolution in the media properites (not project properties , just the clip properites when you click on the fx button) and I have both clips set to PAL DV. I tried changing them both to PAL Standard and I still seem to have the same problem. (I need to have them as PAL as I live in Ireland).

I also tried unticking the aspect ratio but I still have the problem.

Thanks

Try right clicking on the preview window, selecting "Display at project size" and then recapturing your snapshot from the video.

Can you describe exactly what you mean by "comes out smaller"? Are you seeing black edges around the still? Is it stretched or somehow non-proportional but it still fills the screen?

Not sure it matter at all, but one thing to try might be to save to a different format (e.g. png or jpg or bmp) than what you've been using.

You might also want to double-check the overall project properties (not the clip properties) to make sure they're the same as what you're outputting to.
