Soft Shadow on Generated Media

I've generated several pieces of text to use as titles. The first one was great (white on black), but I wanted to soften the edges of the text. Through experimentation I selected the Soft Shadow preset, and the result was great.

But now I'd like to generate some text WITHOUT the Soft Shadow, and I don't seem to be able to do it. No matter what I try, my new text has the shadowing effect.

How do I put this genie back into its bottle?

click your video media generator (sony text) icon on your text (that green thing that looks like a small piece of film at the end of every clipincluding generated media), click the effects tab, make sure the draw shadow and the draw outline boxes have no checks. sounds like you may have some draw outline feather action going on there besides your shadow. that oughta giter dun.
