SoftEncode - freeware?

Anybody know if SoftEncode is now officialy freeware since SF no longer makes it?

Not a chance. SoftEncode had significant licensing fees paid to Dolby. You'll not see a free Dolby Digital encoder until such time that they all are <g>.
