software locks-up when rendering

Have been working on a series of videos, all 8 to 10 minutes long.
Using a HD camcorder and .mpg file types, with Sony Vegas Studio Platinum. Rendering a .wmv file at 79% (always worked in the past).

Yesterday with my newest video, the software started locking-up during the rendering process.
I looked through the video and could not find anything unusual that might cause this, and it plays fine in the software.

Any suggestions on what to try?

I've witnessed this too and have an extremely powerful machine. I've found that sometimes there are multiple instances of VMS running in the background. Look for these in the task manager and see if you can kill other processes. I've had good luck with rendering just after a fresh reboot. I hope this helps...not sure if it will but I hope it does!! :)
