Software not handling multi-tracks ...

Here's my setup ..

I'm running a Guillemot Maxi-Studio Isis into Vegas .. this
card has 8 ins and 4 outs.

When I do anything above 3-4 inputs at once .. they're
jerky and all over the shop .. also it sometimes can't
handle playback .. even when it's a single stereo track
mixed down.

My pc setup is as such,
- Intel SE440BX-2 MB
- Cel 400 Proc. New Upright version.
- 128Meg RAM
- IBM 10.1 gig HD.
- MaxiSound ISIS Card.
- Intel 740 8-Meg Video Card.
- Voodoo 2 GFX Exl.
- Intel 10+ Pro Net Card.

Help.!!
I love the vegas look and feel .. but it's just not
functional for me .. what to do ..

Cheers,
Brett Tippet.

Sounds like you may be experiencing a throughput bottleneck to the
hard drive. Did you try increasing the playback buffer at
Options|Preferences|Audio Tab? It defaults to .25. Might want to
experiment with a higher number and see if that helps.

Also, it appears you only have one hard drive. Recording to the same
hard drive that you have your operating system and software running
on will sometimes cause what you are experiencing. Do you have the
hard drive partitioned? If not, you should at least try that with the
OS and software on a separate partition from your recording
partition. The best solution is to have two hard drives: one hard
drive for the OS/software, and one as your recording drive.

I have the drive partitioned .. and use a different partition to the
OS .. and have increased playback buffer ..
