software not working after memory upgrade

I have a rather recent well spec'ed PC, running VISTA. After upgrading the memory from 1Gb to 4Gb the Vegas Movie Studio 8.0c gets stuck during the initialisation process at "Initialising UI....".
The message then tells me that the programme stopped working.
Can´t the software handle the new memory? Any ideas re a solution?

To quickly troubleshoot this remove the new RAM an just use the old RAM reinstall VMS 8.0c and see if you get the same issue. If you do then it may not be the RAM.

Did you add 3 Gig to the 1 Gig or drop 4 Gigs of new memory? Mixing up different brands or types may cause issues.

Also check if your PC "sees" all the RAM in your System. In XP its in Start >Settings >Control Panel >System. (Not sure where it is in Vista)
