[SOLVED] Changing Channel Outputs Not Working

razor7video wrote on 11/21/2019, 8:30 PM

Hello--

I have an Echo Layla 3G audio interface (PCI) that has 8 channels. My standard setting for headphone monitoring are channels 1/2. Everything there works great in VP.

My channels typically used in my DAW for near field monitor output are channels 5/6. That's where I'm having an issue in VP. I switch the audio and master channels to outputs 5/6 and nothing is coming out of my speakers. I set the Windows default speakers to channels 5/6 also.

Any ideas?

(My other specs are in my signature)

Thanks!

Stephen

Are the pertinent faders (channels 5-6) up and not muted on the Echo audio control panel mixer? You can try inserting a sub-master and use that to feed Echo channels 5/6. Use the main master L/R for Echo channels1/2 or visa-versa with 5/6. Disable the Windows audio device altogether since your using the Echo audio interface.

I used to have an Echo interface but changed to a USB audio device since my WIn 10 PC did not have the compatible PCI connection.

Good thought. Let me check that and post back. I misstated I was using a Windows audio device. I meant to say that I set the Layla channels 5/6 as the default output in Windows as well. The integrated sound for Windows is disabled.

I also like the idea of inserting a submaster for channels 5/6. That would make switching back and forth between headphones and speakers quicker.

Thanks!

That was it. My Echo console had 5/6 muted. I don't have to change that in my DAW for the preset I use, but no biggie. It works in VP now, thanks.

I'm sure you knew this, but if I right click on an audio bus in VP and select Out, I can make the channel selections there. Easy.

Cheers!

Stephen
