Solved DV Output Problems Print To Tape & External Monitor

After upgrading to Direct X 8, Vegas's external monitor
preview (DV over 1394) worked better.

But when I came to print PAL DV to tape... frames would
jitter and sound had an echo effect.

The main culprit seems to be the qdv.dll file (I managed to
find several different versions of this DLL at
http://www.drd.dyndns.org/index2.html which is also an
excellent resource for other DLLs, VXDs etc.)

Rather than tinker too much I decided to see if I could
just uninstall DirectX 8, I found a utility to do this at
http://www.ebrink.com/dxun/Direct.htm
the utilitly worked brilliantly and I've since gone back to
DX7, but my external monitor function is dodgy.

Hope this info is of help to someone.

To save me trying every one... Can anyone recommend the
best version/subversion of Direct X to use with PAL DV and
Vegas Video?

We are working on a new version of Vidcap that will
incorporate fixes for DX8/Pal DV. Microsoft has also been
promising a revised DX8 installer to handle this but it
hasn't showed up yet.

I'm hoping (not promising) our fix will be posted before
the end of January.

Thanks Dave,

That's great news.

I know it's really a Microsoft Direct X problem, which
means I really appreciate SF trying to sort things out
rather than passing the buck.
