SOLVED: Vegas 9c 32bit hanging on load

Paul Russell wrote on 3/11/2010, 10:24 PM
Hi

Does anyone know if Vegas has a diagnostic mode? The reason is that suddenly today my Vegas 9c x32 hangs on load at the 'initializing DirectX plugins' stage. I have to kill the process, the Error Report Launcher and File IO Surrogate in Task Manager.

I haven't installed any new codecs, plugs or VSTs since the last time I used it (sunday).

And yet the Vegas x64 still opens without error. Running on W7 x64.

Please could anyone point me in a direction that might help. I've already tried restarts, reinstallation and renaming the VST folder.

Hi Paul . . .

Firstly you wanna fill out your system specs on your page? At top of this page it's under :

My Account | System Information

It might help us all in helping you - yeah?

Secondly, from your other 2 posts you've made here of the last year, I can't work out if you are still running External Monitor out thru' f/w to your monitor? If it is a stalling issue I might have a solution for that.

Regards

Grazie

Hi Grazie

thanks for your reply. I've filled in the specs. It's a Dual Xeon system running W7 x64 with both Vegas 9c x32 and x64 installed. I have all the Nu Blue Fx but they don't seem to be the root of the problem.

Currently the Nvidia is supporting two dual 1650*1050 monitors. I used to run a third with another video card but it caused too many heat problems. So now I'm back to two.

I can open Vegas 64 ok but the x32 version just stops at the splash screen when it's showing 'initializing Direct X plugins' .

Hi Paul,

What I was thinking - out thru firewire to an external monitor - doesn't apply here.

I don't have your setup, so I can't offer personal feedback. Maybe a kind Vegas-site here will chip in? Otherwise its a Sony Tech Ticket?

Try doing a search here for this mixed platform issue?

Regards

Grazie

ps: Cheers for entering your specs - most helpful indeed. It will also assist SONY too!

A rogue DX plugin was causing this: Nu Blue Motion Blends, which had somehow become corrupted. I had to uninstall then manually go through the registry to delete all the keys with 'motionblends' in them .
