@gorGaram They do, you just have to put it exactly on the join, If the events are not already trimmed Vegas will Loop the events to create the transition, if they are already trimmed it will use the unseen trimmed parts.

The length of the transition is set in Preferences. you can see the trimmed parts of the clips by double clicking on the edge of the transition, that will Expand Track events (that needs to be turned on in Preferences to work)

Here's how it works (doesn't work) i have.

@gorGaram It does if the events are trimmed first but if they're not trimmed I'm struggling to get them to work, I don't get the same result as you tho. This used to work. .......

If I don't trim the events it adds the transition to just one event, if I tri both it works, I kept zooming n out to check for Unquantified frames because this doesn't work if there are Unquantified frames but mine has none, & I have Show Unquantified frames turned on,

There's something about cutting an event like you did compared to butting two separate events together, I can get it to work like that but .........

If the clips are not cutted (not trimmed), the transitions work immediately after the joint is thrown.

Unquantified frames occur if the clip on the tape does not lie on the edge of the frame, this can be corrected simply by sliding it to the edge of the frame. I have them on too, of course.

@gorGaram I don't know what's going on, like I say this used to work, there's been problems with Unquantified frames / AVC... turning on Legacy AVC seems to have helped those with that problem (AMD users I believe, I haven't had any such problems) but turning Legacy AVC on made no change to this transition dropping tho, 🤷‍♂️

Yes, having seen this ambiguity, I basically avoid "artistic" transitions, and if it is already necessary, then I do it with a shift, as I showed. It always works unambiguously. Of course, others will do as they know best.

@gorGaram Yep I always drag a crossfade first & 99.9% of my clips get trimmed anyway 👍

Still don't know why the OP @Art-Munson can't get the ones that were mentioned to work, I tried all on a dragged over crossfade without problems.

Thanks again everyone for all of your help. I made a few of the suggested changes and everything is fine with one exception. There are times when I have to do a slideshow type of project. Many times I have to use the same image back to back and this is where I'm still running into the same type of problem. If the image is different each time all transitions work but not if the image is the same.

@Art-Munson Hi, you're going to have to explain that a bit more because if you have two images that are the same & you add a fade, dissolve or wipe transition you don't see the transition. ?

The couple of GL ones I tried work.

Cube will work for me as well as all of the GL Transitions that I have checked. Gradient Wipe, Iris and Clock Wipe are some that do not.

@Art-Munson You're going to have to show pictures or a video.

Like I say those 'Gradient Wipe, Iris and Clock Wipe' won't show when 2 images the same are back to back, they are working but you can't see anything because it's transitioning from one picture to the same picture. Only if you use one with a border will you see anything & even then you'll only see the border.
