Capture HDV with Vegas capture, all ok, go to put the files on the timeline, Vegas will not recognize them. The files are in the correct folder and you can play them with media player or Nero, they end with .m2t.
Cannot figure out what is going on.

I have the same problems and thought it was something I did on my side. I tried to capture 30 minutes of HD video to vegas7.0 and noticed that I had 5 good m2t clips out of the 15 or so that wasn't usable in vegas. This happened when I clicked on the "capture" circle in vegas. I decided to do it again but this time I pressed the play button in vegas first, then clicked on the "capture" circle in vegas and all of my m2t files were usable. I'm not sure if anyone here does the same thing as I do or if it's an problem on my software end. I has happened twice, the first time I didn't remember what I did. I have to write down my workflow so I don't waste time doing this over and over. I hope this helps.
Thanks for the reply.
What happened to you is exactly what happened to me. I had to have 4 attempts to capture before I got all files to be compatible with Vegas. Each of the 3 failed attempts I got some to work but others were no good.
Don't know what was going on.

If you fail to stop the capture before the end of the tape Vegas keeps the file(s) locked, they show up as 0Kb but they're actually all there, needless to say trying to put them onto the T/L fails.
Better yet when you close Vegas it doesn't actually close, the app vanishes but the .exe lingers on, check task manager. You'll also probably find you can't kill the task either.
So try to power the machine down, that probably will not work either, so do a cold restart. Bingo, your files are there and they'll now go onto the T/L except they'll have names like Temp?????.m2t.
Vegas seems to get more features and more bugs, at this rate in 12 months they'll pose a serious challenge to PPro.
Farss, you are exactly correct. I forgot to mention you have to stop the capture before the end of the tape. Thank you for that very important reminder.
I presume you guys are seein this with V7.0c?
I'm seeing it with 6.0, great ain't it, this is a pretty major bug and it's taken 18 months for anyone to notice and it's not fixed.
I highly recommend using HDVSplit to capture your m2t clips. It work beautifully, splits the clips by timecode and you can preview the video while you capture it thanks to it's use of the GPU for this function.
