somewhat OT: Audio compressed again???

Good morning all,
The following was posted over at the DVDA forum yesterday but it doesn't look like it's going to get answered and I need to get this DVD out today so thanks for your patience:

I had an Mpeg2 burned to DVD; after viewing, my client wanted a CG script at the end changed. I brought in the mpeg2 into V4 and made the change (split the video event, drug it over a little, and inserted another generated media) and re-rendered (as an mpeg2). Now DVDA wants to compress the audio again. This is a piano concert and I certainly don't want to lose any more quality. Any thoughts?

First of all if you are bringing in a MPEG file and editing with it you are already losing a lot of quality. You should edit from the original project file using the AVI files that were captured. MPEG is not a format that should be used for editing, it is only a distribution format.

I had always thought that until reading here recently that mpeg2 was an acceptable format to backup with and that it could be edited at a later time. I was skeptical until I re-rendered the edited version and A/Bed the two (synced both on separate tracks and muted one to view the other). My wife nor I could tell the difference.
Regardless though, is there not a way to prevent DVDA from compressing the audio?
