OK, note that this is an Engineering sample P4 that will not be sold to consumers. It's a p4 2.8Ghz with HyperThreading enabled. Intel is releasing P4 3Ghz with HT not the 2.8's that I have.

Memory
768Megs RDRAM 2XC-Rimms

Motherboard
Maryville2 (533 FSB)
Chipset
Intel 850e

Drives
Maxtor 80GB ATA 100
WD 20G (Ghost images)

Graphics
GeForce3 Ti500 AGP4X

OS
WinXp SP1

Sound
RME DIGI9636 ->(lightpipe)->Frontier Tango ->Amp

I've not been able to reproduce the crashes that you report. System sounds are still on.

well, is there a system available to mere mortals that will work ? How was I supposed to get this working 4 or 5 months ago ?

I wonder if these are the systems they do their testing and form impressions about their software on.

Pipeline: I know you are bummin' on this and have had problems with this machine since day 1. Without having your system here at SF there is no possible way we can get an identical repro of your problems, but please be aware that based on your numerous posts/emails/calls we bought your exact RME card, put it in a P4, and loaded the same OS version(s) as you have- and Vegas works fine in all our tests.

At this point I'd suggest finding somebody someplace in your area with a P4, then load the RME and Vegas and try to repro. I'm not saying there isn't a Vegas issue at the heart of this - but I am saying that it is at least POSSIBLE that your system or config is at fault. If you repro on the second system, please do a system info dump so we can try to find any common factors that might be contributing. If you don't repro on the other system, we'd like to know that too.

actually, the system I installed in on is a PIII 600. I haven't done much testing but so far it seems stable. I'll post more later...

Trust me - I'll try to make it crash.

are the " hyperthreading P4 3.0ghz " available now ?
PipelineAudio wrote on 10/1/2002, 2:35 PM
BTW task manager is showing that it is vegas.exe that is jumping to 99%
PipelineAudio wrote on 10/1/2002, 4:37 PM
so, so far the tally is it works on a P3, and it works on a P4 system that isnt available to the public

Hello PipelineAudio,

Sorry in advance for my stupid question, have you put on the Bios "NO" in PnP OS?

Regards
PipelineAudio wrote on 10/1/2002, 8:09 PM

Have you physically tried removing the card and moving it into other slots? Have you tried assigning it different IRQ's? I'll be at the AES convention in L.A. this weekend and so will RME....Is there anything you want me to ask those boys for ya?
PipelineAudio wrote on 10/1/2002, 11:06 PM
yeah tried every irq trick card move reinstall you can think of

be sure to SMACK them while you're there. Them being arrogant and ignorant at the same time is insane
