Sony 1080p displays

Just when everyone got excited about the stepping-stone display technology of 720, Sony launches their new 1080p displays, and at a very low price based on previous costs.
I'm pretty excited, because now we have access to affordable 1080 displays at native res!

4K (retail) for the 50" and 5K for the 60". I'm hoping to see one of these soon. Anyone in the SanDiego area that can go peek at one, maybe plug a Z1 into it?

.. and also the Mitsubishi HD 1080p TVs in SoCal stores that started showing up in stores here last month.

I'd certainly take the Sony over the Mitsubishi, but the world's largest Mitsubishi big screen reseller ("Paul, the King of Big Screen") in La Habra (Greater Los Angeles) is very aggressive on pricing, so this may put it within reach of more people.

Where are they in Dan Diego Spot? One problem - I can't find my component out lead for the camera.

Sony's Consumer Electronics warehouse is in San Diego. I'm assuming they've got them on the floor of the Sony Style store there, since it's in the backyard of their warehouse. They say the monitors are shipping early September, so hopeful they'll be everywhere soon.

re; the component lead out, I think you can order one from the Sony Style site for the FX 1. It's the same cable for the Z1.
here's the link;

Componenet lead found attached to Peter's game cube!

I'll check it out Spot. For a cheap solutions I am very happy with the camra playing into the Dell 2405. In fact it's making me redo a lot of color correcting as some "corrected" scenes I can now see were better in the raw.

i know this is probably a (real) dumb question, but, could this be used for a pc mega-big type display as well?

I've got a multimonitor setup, it would be great to be able to edit on a reallly big timeline + preview videoclips etc...

actually this new one, looks like a rear projection, are there any LCDs/plasma monitors, bigscreens, intended for home theatre (planned, coming out soon... or this one) that would be suitable for NLE/ video work?

Ken - I have a 24" DELL 2405.... and I can't imagine what it would be like to use a much larger monitor (like the 50 or 60 inch models)... I think it would require sitting 6 feet away with my feet up on the sofa. Hey... not a bad idea.
