Hi all,
OK this is not directly Vegas related but then again it might be in terms of a solution...I hope someone here knowns some intzricacies of the A7S
I've run into a problem I need some advice and explanations with.
I recently worked on a production that involved video as well as a lot of stop motion stills. I recorded the video on my Atomos Shogun Flame in DNxHD145, and the stills on the SD card. Now , the thing was that I constantly had to switch between the A7S still and video modes, and so eventually, the mistake happened - as the atomos always shows an image, with the A7S in still or video mode, i recorded some video footage with the a7S in stills ( full manual M, 16:9 RAW ) mode.
At first, after I noticed it ( too late ), I thought it wouldn't make much of a difference, as the image on the Atomos was still very good. Also, I liked the better focus enlargment mode in M mode .
Now, in editing in V13, I see that it does - massively. The footage of the still mode is extremely soft and duller than the video mode footage, to the point of looking out of focus and blown up.
So my question here is - what exactly does the a7S put out via HDMI in still mode? My guess is that as it was in RAW mode, it sent out some sort of lowres preview still. What did the atomos record? II can't seem to find out what format or resolution exactly has been sent out to the atomos. Is there a way to save the footage by tweaking it frame by frame in lightroom or similar?
Needless to say, the clips that look bad seriously piss me off...I can save some with sharpness and other tweaks but the difference is heavy. Fortunately it only happened on a few.
Thanks in advance for helping me understand this one.
