I have been using a Sony +-RW 510A drive for awhile, but have never been able to burn a +R that would play in a set top player. -R works great but is much slower to burn. I can burn the same file, using the same media on a NEC +R and it plays fine. I have tried both DVDA and Nero to burn the files with same results. I finally gave up and just used it with -R media.
I decide to purchase the new Sony 710 Dual Layer burner thinking that by now whatever problem I have been experiencing would have been fixed by Sony, but I'm getting the exact same results. Using both Nero and DVDA prepared files, sony +R media, the burn is successful, but will not play on a set top player.
Is anyone have this problem or successfully burning to +R with this burner. The +R burns faster even at the same speeds, so I would prefer to use that. Also, if this is a -+ burner, why can I never get a +R to work.
