No, you don't use the disk. Vegas will autodetect the camera when you connect it via USB. If not, copy the video files onto a new folder and load these files on Vegas manually. If this is a camera that creates MOD files, you might need to manually tell Vegas that these files are widescreen.

Thanks Eugenia, Studio did not detect camcorder and that was the reason I thought I might have to install the software. The files are in wide screen. After I edit,do I change some setting to make it into full screen before sending it to Architect? Thanks.

Here's a possible workflow:
1. Connect the cam to the PC via USB.
2, Using Explorer navigate to the camera folder that holds the MOD files (it will be the ones that are big files). Copy them to a new folder on your PC.
3. Open Vegas. Create a new project, and add the now-copied files into the project.
4. Right click on one of these MOD files, and click Properties, and then go to the second tab. Here's the tricky part. You must identify if Vegas recognizes these files as 4:3 or 16:9 (you can preview one inside Vegas to see how Vegas "understands" it). If it's 16:9, you're ok. If not, then you must change the aspect ratio value to 1.2121, and then press the SAVE icon in that window. This should change the aspect ratio for all your MOD files. If it doesn't do it for all, you will have to do the same job for each.
5. Then, setup the Project/Project-Properties, by using the little icon on that window, that will open an explorer window to select one of these MOD files. On Vegas is very important to have the right project properties. Failure to do so will most probably result in bad quality.
6. Then, edit. Then, export in mpeg2 widescreen NTSC from the RENDER AS menu, and in AC3 for audio (separately for video and audio).
7. Then import these two generated files in DVD Architect, to build a DVD.

Thanks again Eugenia. I followed your instructions and it worked fine, thanks for your help. Does this camcorder only capture in wide screen because I cannot find any instructions on how to change it to full screen? Thanks again for all your help and patience.

No idea if it does full screen too... However, it's best to shoot in 16:9 anyway, because it's more future-proof.
