Sony DHR 1000VC (PAL) and VV3.0a

I recently upgraded to VV3.0a, hoping that some of the apparent compatibility problems I've experienced with my Sony DHR 1000VC (PAL) deck might have been addressed. There is no way VV 3.0 would recognise the deck, but previous postings indicated that the new release might have fixed this, but sadly, still no joy. My Sony PC3 cam is no problem, having full device control with both VV versions. I'm using an Adaptec OHCI 1394 card, on a PIII 600, 512Mb memory, 20 GB system disk, 2 x 18Gb Ultra2 SCSI disks (dedicated to video) with Windows ME. This machine also has a Canopus Raptor installed, and Adobe Premiere 5.1c. The Raptor recognises the DHR1000 just fine and gives full device control, which tells me the deck is set up O.K. The PC has had all the bugs worked out and has been very stable for some time.
The problem is that VV Capture simply doesn't recognise the DHR 1000, no matter what I do (yes, I've tried 'reconnect device' in VidCap). I've replaced the 1394 cable with a known good one, just in case, however the original cable is O.K. anyway. Tried both ports on the 1394 board, both work O.K. with the camera, but not with the deck. Capture directories are specified as they should be under VV preferences, and PAL settings are also correct.
I have recently upgraded Direct X to version 8.1 -could this be the problem? Doesn't seem logical, if the PC3 is recognised, and device control works as it should with the camera.
Does anybody have any ideas on what I should try, or is the DHR1000 (PAL)simply not currently supported (even with VV3.0a). On a previous post a few days ago, I asked deef which decks are still unsupported, in response to his statement to that effect, but no answer so far. Can anybody help please.

I am using the same deck (PAL) - no problems with VV3 or 3a.
This is under XP though.
An interesting point is that I have a SB Audigy with 1394 capability - this sometimes plays up. I have a no-name TI chipped 1394 card too, and this is always rock solid. Both claim OHCI compliance and no amount of jiggling slots changes the situation!
See if you can find a TI card to try.

Jbl -Thanks for the prompt response. If your DHR 1000 is working O.K. with VV3 and VV3a, then it's probably something I'm doing wrong. Curious though, that the DHR 1000 works fine with the Raptor (although of course not connected via the 1394 board). Actually the Adaptec board has TI chips anyway, but I can certainly change it out in the next day or two. It will either prove to be the culprit or eliminate the card as a possible cause. Either way, it's another step in solving the problem. Thanks again.
