Sony digital cam to Wiindows Messenger

I have a Sony digital cam model dcr-pc120. It supports a usb connection. I want to use it as a webcam for Windows Messenger. Is this possilbe and if so do I need software and if so where can I get it please. Thanks for your attention.

Yes you would need some sort of software.
I had some software for my Canon camera that would enable me to use the camera as web camera.
You should check with Sony if they have drivers for your camera for that function.

Was the Canon on firewire or USB? I've seen software that will use firewire, but it was ridiculously expensive - more than the cost of a good webcam! If there's some sensibly priced s/w out there I'd be interested in trying it.

It was on Firewire.
The software came with the camera.
Never got it to work with my PC but I think that was a PC problem than anything else. Have not had time to try and fix it.
