Sony DRU-800a burning issue

I have yet to be able to burn an Architect project on either of my Sony 800 drives. I had a 710 drive and an 800 drive in my computer and could burn on the 710. I wanted a faster drive so I replaced the 710 with another 800 and neither will burn using DVD Arch 3.0c (or b either). I updated the firmware - didn't help. I have to use Nero or ULead program to burn the prepared folders. It's been 8 months now, and I've brought this problem up before. I had hoped version "c" would fix the problem. Why does a Sony program not work with a Sony drive? Any suggestions?

this has been discussed in the forum before, but Sony Vegas and Sony Burners come from two very different aspects of the corporation. I have a sony dru-710a and have not been able to burn with it using dvda3 or vegas6 although it worked fine with vegas5 and dvda2. I updated the firmware and it still did not make it work. I contacted sony support and they sent me instructions on replacing one of my .dll files with another which I did and it works fine. I would share what he sent me but I do not know that it would work with your 800 drive. Your best bet is to reference this thread and write Sony tech support and see what they give you. Probably not the answer you want, but it was the way I got mine to work.

Thanks for your help. It's interesting that you couldn't make your 710a work because that's the drive I WAS able to make work before I switched it out. My bigger complaint is that the Vegas software team has yet to address this problem. If two other programs I have can burn the files Architect makes using my Sony 800a drive, why can't Architect itself?

Someone here on this forum addressed that issue basically stating that DVDA is an authoring program hence it does a great job at it. Nero, on the other hand, is a burning program and they have done extensive compatibility testing with tons of burners as they are a burning software product and to sell, they need to be compatible with virtually all burners. DVDA does a great job at authoring and they state that is what it was intended for. The other two programs you have are probably burning programs, not authoring.

The DRU-800 is a rebadged LiteOn drive, so it's only a Sony in name.

I've never been able to get my Panasonic 109 or my LiteOn 1633 to work with DVDA3 either. Sony does not appear interested in making the burning portion of DVDA3 (which is weak anyway) compatible with every drive/hardware combination. It's really no big deal to author with DVDA3 and then burn with Nero.
