Sony DVD Architect 4.5d hangs after splash screen

When I try to start up Sony DVD Architect 4.5d the splash screen appears but the program hangs and won't load and I get the following message

The application could not start.
The default theme could not be found.
Error code 0x80004005, Startup code: 27

Has anyone experienced this before, and if so, what solution did you use to fix the program hanging.

Thanks for any info I can get on this.

How much free, defragmented space is on your hard drive, Canuck?

Also, have you ensured you have the latest version of Quicktime installed?

Hi Steve, thank you for answering. I have 55 GB free on the hard drive, yes I have the latest version of QuickTime installed. I installed the Sony program successfully in December 2009, the program was working fine about six weeks ago when I last used it to make a DVD. A few days ago I went to use it again and it just wouldn't load properly. I did have Sony DVD Architect 3.0 installed as well, although working quite fine before, it has the same problem. The only new programs that have been installed on the computer is the Microsoft updates for Windows XP..... security updates, updates for Microsoft net framework, Microsoft Silverlight etc.. I do keep everything up to date

I uninstalled both programs 3.0 and 4.5d and reinstalled 4.5d but to no avail, it still does the same (hanging on startup). The Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0 works just fine along with all of the other Sony software that I have. It's a mystery. Hopefully there is a solution. Thanks again.

It sounds like you've got the obvious bases covered, Canuck. So I'm sure you've found this KB article.

Beyond that, I'm not sure what to suggest. Sorry.
