Sony DVD Architect 4.5d slow to load

I have an ongoing problem with Sony DVD Architect where it takes about two to three minutes to load. The splash screen hangs for that length of time and then the program loads quite suddenly. The program works fine but I find it annoying when it hangs so long. I wonder if anyone can give me a solution to fixing this. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program twice to see if that would fix it but it didn't. The only thing I did notice in Task Manager was that two instances of the program seemed to be loading at the same time, when it finally loads though, there is just one instance of the program visible, of course that may not be relevant to the problem. I have Dvd Architect Studio 45d installed on an up-to-date Windows XP service pack three. Thanks for any help I can get with this.

DVD Architect by default loads the last used project when it is opened. If the files from that project are not stored on the same hard disk as the program, it will take a very long time to open.

If you will go to Options->Preferences and uncheck "Open last project . . . " the program will open quite a bit faster. You can then open the last project from the File menu, if you wish.

Musicvid. Thank you very much for your help. I do have the program on the same hard drive as I am saving the project on. I did uncheck the "open last project" preference, nothing seems to work. The splash screen freezes for a couple of minutes or longer sometimes, at "create frame". The program finally does open sometimes at two minutes and sometimes it takes three minutes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled on a few occasions to try and fix the situation, but to no avail. I wish I could solve this problem as it is most annoying. My computer is completely up to date in every way with Windows XP service pack three and all Microsoft updates installed. All my other software on the computer is working perfectly. Maybe I will try again and see if the Sony HelpDesk will answer me back as they haven't done that. I tried on a couple of occasions to send in questions about it but got no answer. I purchased the software late last year. Oh well!

With no project to open at startup, my DVDA Pro 5.0 opens "not fast," but about 15 seconds, about the same time as a Firefox browser. Vista 32 on an entry-level notebook.

Problem solved, just to let you know it was my firewall/antivirus. Uninstalled Kaspersky Internet Security 10 using Kavremover and installed the new Kaspersky Internet Security 11. Everything on Sony DVD Architect, now works really well. Just letting anyone know in case someone out there has a similar problem. Thanks.
