Sony DW-D18 DVD drive?

Hi all,
I'm using the above drive to burn DVDs. I bought it because it has dual-layer capability. However, DVDA2 will only burn +R or +RW disks in it. DVDA2 gives an error if I put in -R or -RW disks and try to burn. Interestingly, Veritas RecordNow has no problem burning either kind of disk on the same computer and drive.

Any thoughts?
Thanks,
-Don

While the DVD design and prepration functions of DVDA are pretty keen, its burning component has many issues. Do a search of the forum for "Nero" and you'll find that many users have resigned themselves to developing their DVDs in DVD Architect and burning them to disc with something else (for example, Nero). It's not that much of a hassle once you get used to it.

The alternative is, of course, to just use the type of disc that works okay for you.

Thanks, Rob. That's exactly what I've been doing, using Veritas as the burn engine. It's funny that a Sony program has issues with a Sony burner, isn't it?
