Sony EPM: "how to" with the new Sony HDV??

This is a slighlty strange question but here goes...

I have a fellow "forum member" who works for a magazine in Spain who will be allowed to test the new Sony HDV cam (Pal version??)...He is now trying to find out how to get the footage into the computer, what platform he can edit it on, and output possibilities...He will be receiving the camera very shortly (ie within the next for days, possibly within a week, but certainly a September deadline and he will only be able to use it for a couple of days).

I mentioned that Vegas could handle the editing and output but the question is how to get the footage into the PC apparently...
Another issue would be how to set the framerate correctly if t is a 50i capture to tape (in Pal terms) and then how to export the edited project and to what format...

I was hoping you (or anyone else for that matter !) can provide valuable step by step as to how to go about this. With a bit of luck, Vegas will get a mention in the write up!

Thansk in advance,

Paul.

PS: I am totally ignaorant on things hdv so please bear with me...

ooops forgot to mention...this whole thing came up on a spanish dv forum and had the participants frantically searching for solutions on their editing platforms of choice, including Fianl Cut Pro. It would seem Vegas may have scored a winning goal in that community...Good for the Vegas development team!

Regards,

Paul.
