Sony Handycam HDR-SR7 and Vegas

I plan on buying a new camcorder but I have been hearing alot of problems with the one I mentioned. Does anyone use the above camera and Vegas 7 for editing? Does Vegas 7 work with the AVCHD video format and can the video be kept in HD for others to view through real player or some other playback format?

Yes, I use the SR7 frequently at the moment. Works fine in V8 and the files even work in V7.0e.

So what are the options for rendering out HD video? Can you render out to HD formats that other realplayer type PC players can playback? Thanks for your help...
