Not yet... I'm waiting for the reviews on both the HC7 and Canon's HV20 before I make a move

both the C7 and HV20 looks exciting for the consumer market! I think HV20 will push sony to release a few firmware changes it has under its belt, or just release another line between March and June.

Firmware for what?

firmware for the V1 and C7 cmos chips. I missed the actual meeting at the IC Fab conference because of court hearing that I wanted to observed. Sony IC design team demo the cmos IC extra features and processing power, but the general overview was improving colorspace and improved 24p capture in low light I was told. The colorspace improvement "could" mean moving away from "HDV" to a new format like "xHDV" . But this just a quess. I think Canon marketing has caught Sony's attention about 1920 coming soon than later in the market.

danieljoelle, do you have a Sony 1080p tv with the extended colorspace logic? If so, how does this feature look when viewing live feed from the C7.

No, I don't have an x.v.Color compatible set yet (x.v.Color is Sony's branding of the xvYCC color gamut technology). Not yet, anyway...
The only model out right now cost $33,000 (Sony KDL-70XBR3)!
I'm waiting for the smaller to models to come out later this year, and then I'll pop for one. I cant wait...
Toshiba is also coming out with sets with the xvYCC cabability:

In the meantime, I watch the footage on my PC. Actually, I found out the DVICO Fusion HDTV PCI tuner card I have in my PC (for OTA HDTV viewing) plays the .m2t files from the HDR-HR7 quite nicely; no deinterlacing. All I have to do is change the file extension to .ts!
