Sony HD Intermediate codec?

If intermediate files are the preferred method to work with HD why didn't/doesn't Sony develop their own intermediate codec? There is no question in my mind they have the expertise.

You could also ask why doesn't Sony develop their own 'decent' titler or graphics app or CGI app. You could also ask why doesn't uStuff develop their own web browser and bundle it with their OS, or Apple include a photo editor with OSX.
Oh hang on uStuff and Apple did that and do you see the issues that's created.

Yes, they bought the company and kept the staff.
There's a world of difference between doing that and using your financial muscle to wipe out the little guys who've been adding value to your product by offering codecs or plugins or titlers etc.

BTW, there is a CF 'camera' already. Not cheap and it doesn't work with Vegas which is very sad indeed.
