Sony HDV Solutions tour in Toronto

On September 16th, the Sony HDV Solutions Tour, powered by VASST, will be in Toronto. A full day of Vegas training follows. See the HVR Z1U and the HVR A1U in action with all the HDV peripherials, and how Sony Vegas software manages it all. Lotsa hardware and software tools to be shown. (it's a no-cost evening event)

Also, on August 22nd, B&H is sponsoring a Music in the VIdeo Edit suite event, focused around Sony ACID software, taught by Jeffrey Fisher. [edit] this event is being held in NYC at the B&H education location.

Spot, I'm assuming you mean Toronto, Canada, right? I can't believe I'm going to miss this - after hoping for months that someday - someday....... VASST training would make it here :-(

The Toronto International Film Festival runs from the Sept. 8 - 17. Last year I saw 65 films and this year probably more - so will be a zombie by the 16th anyway - even if the tour was the day after.

Do you know whereabouts in Toronto the Aug. 22 music event will be held?

The free event is on the night of the 16th, the full day of Vegas training is on the 17th.
The August 22nd music event is at B&H in NYC, I should have made it clear where B&H is. Sorry for any confusion!

Not really related, but the white on grey text in that webpage is hard to read.

2- I live in Toronto. :) :) I'll definitely try to make it to the free seminar, although I may not have $200 for the other one.

yes the registration page is a bit confusing with two or more events 1000miles from each other listed together ... and the text is very hard to read - and the page at http://www.vasst.com/Music_in_the_%20Edit_%20Suite_%20Seminar.htm is messed up at the bottom w/ firefox ...

BUT great to see this again in Toronto , don't fly Air France though ..

Thanks for the info ...

DSE, you really need to offer this in Aspen, Colorado. I could help make that happen for a free pass. :-Darryl

Sorry for the page look, our IT guy was adjusting it today, playing with fonts, colors, etc. He didn't know I'd posted here...it's fixed now.
Hope to meet you this time around, Brian!

I recently purchased and watched the Class on Demand Vegas training DVD. It was great and helped me up the learning curve. I know this may be tough to answer, but can you give me a sense of how much further your advanced training could take me (assuming I absorb it all).

And will the Toronto session provide Vegas workstations for each participant?

I believe it may tell you what you want to know about the nature of the course when you click on INFO beside the name of the course on the VASST site.

I did check the info on the VASST site when the Toronto tour was first announced, but I can't find the info now. From what I recall, it covered a lot of the same ground as the Class on Demand training DVD. So my question was trying to get at how much deeper the training would go and whether there was an opportunity for hands on work (i.e workstations). As I get older, I find I need the hands on stuff to get new information to stick.

There won't be workstations there. The use of workstations tends to slow the entire class significantly, even with a proctor, so one-day training sessions rarely lend themselves to working in this manner. Even with assistants, in large classes we find it slows the pace significantly, so we either have to dramatically cut the agenda, or have no computers. In various polls of our students, they tend to prefer the "no workstation" approach and more agenda, than working with the workstation.
I can't comment one way or the other on the Class on Demand DVD but can say that we go far deeper than it does in terms of the advanced session, plus the classes are live vs DVD. The COD DVD is more full in the basics, which we do provide a little time for in the early morning session for $50.00.
Either way, there is the no-cost HDV session the previous evening, hope to meet you at that event at minimum. It's always great to meet forum folks.
