Sony Noise Reduction Plugin and Vegas 11 (32-bit)

rtbond wrote on 11/23/2011, 9:31 AM
When I try to add the Sony Noise Reduction 2b plugin to the audio processing chain in Vegas Pro 11, 32-bit the application crashes.

Does anyone know if there are known issues with NR2 and the 32-bit version of Vegas pro 11?

I see there is a Sony Noise Reduction 2h plugin on the downloads section, although my 2b serial number is not being accepted by the 2h version.

Responding to my own question. NR 2.0h does work with Vegas Pro 11 32-bit. I found the correct serial number to activate it (Operator error). My old NR 2.0b appears no compatible for Vegas Pro 11 32-bit.

I do have an question, however. My noise print does not seem to be correct. I am getting a flat noise print way down near -120 dB. The source material is an old VHS recording with tape hiss. It was capture via a Digital 8 camera (DV NTSC, 16-bit, 48 kHz).

I have selected a small silent region of the audio track, click the "capture noiseprint" check box, and then playback the looped region.

What might I be doing wrong?

Describe your NR workflow, step-by-step.
for instance:
- select track & add NR plug-in to chain
- highlight noise segment (a few milliseconds to a second is usually sufficient)
- select noise-print tab
- check-mark 'Capture Noiseprint'
- Select Play
- adjust General tab parameters if needed.
- save pre-set (which may or may not be necessary)
I don't have VP11, but would assume the workflow would be the same as VP9/10)

That is the workflow I have always used, including with VP 11. I did eventually get a noise print to set, although I am not sure what I did differently.

I will experiment further and report back if I discover anything interesting (beside operator error).

Thanks!
